讲座题目：Cognitive sophistication and thinking against the wind

内容简介：This paper studies the role of cognitive sophistication in shaping disagreement about public issues. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we gathered individuals’ belief data through two rounds of experimental surveys at two specific time points in 2022. When China’s mainstream media was highlighting the harm of the virus, more cognitively sophisticated individuals were more inclined to believe that COVID-19 was less harmful than others. More cognitively sophisticated individuals were also more inclined to believe that strict containment was more harmful than the virus. However, when China’s mainstream media turn to highlight the safety of the virus, more cognitively sophisticated individuals became more inclined to believe that COVID-19 was harmful and strict containment measures were less harmful than the virus. More cognitively sophisticated ones tend to adopt contrarian thinking against the prevailing mainstream viewpoint, irrespective of what it is.

主讲人简介：

姜树广，山东大学教授，博士生导师，山东大学齐鲁青年学者，山东省泰山学者青年专家。曾作为国家公派联合培养博士生在法国国家科研中心（GATE-CNRS）访问学习，在深圳证券交易所从事博士后研究工作。研究领域为行为经济学和实验经济学、合作经济学、制度经济学，以及行为金融等。研究兴趣涉及非道德（如腐败）问题、人类合作秩序、信念及价值观、贫困、收入分配与社会正义、效用与幸福等。已在《经济研究》、《管理科学学报》、Economic Inquiry、China Economic Review、Social Indicators Research等中外文学术期刊发表多篇论文。获国际经济学会（International Economic Association）首届阿马蒂亚森奖（Amartya Sen Prizes），山东省第二十九次社会科学优秀成果奖一等奖、二等奖，浙江省哲学社会科学优秀成果奖二等奖，山东省高校优秀科研成果奖（人文社科类）一等奖等多项奖励荣誉。
