Lecture Overview:
With the accelerated aging of the population, China’s healthcare system faces mounting challenges to its sustainability. Therefore, examining the impact of population aging on healthcare expenditures is of great significance. This study utilizes inpatient data from Beijing and data from the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS), applying the Das Gupta multivariate decomposition method to assess the contribution of key factors, including age structure, to the growth in healthcare costs. Based on the findings, targeted policy recommendations are proposed.
