Message from the Dean

The School of Labor and Human Resources at present consists of five departments: Labor Economics, Human Resource Management, Social Security, Labor Relations, and Vocational Development and Management. It also includes research institutes such as the Institute of Organizational Behavior, Center for Human Resource Development and Evaluation, Leadership Science Research Center, China Social Security Research Center, China Employment Research Institute, Labor Relations Research Institute, China Human Capital Audit Research Institute, Human Resource Services Research Center, and Renmin-Rutgers Global Employment and Work Research Center. Additionally, there are centers for data and case studies, as well as for human resource and leadership development.

The school offers undergraduate programs in Human Resource Management, Labor and Social Security, Labor Relations, and Labor Economics. It provides master's programs in Labor Economics, Social Security, Human Resource Management, and Labor Relations. Moreover, it offers doctoral programs in Labor Economics, Human Resource Management, Social Security, and Labor Relations. It also shares a post-doctoral mobile station in Applied Economics with other departments.

Labor Economics is recognized as a national key discipline, and Social Security is identified as a key discipline in Beijing. In the fourth round of national discipline assessment, all disciplines related to the School of Labor and Human Resources were rated as A+.

The School of Labor and Human Resources is the most authoritative institution for labor science research in China. It was among the earliest pioneers in related academic fields in China and has been a driving force behind the best practices in human resources management since the reform and opening-up. The school has long been engaged in tackling major issues related to people's livelihoods. It maintains close relationships with national institutions such as the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the National Bureau of Statistics, and the Organization Department of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee. It actively participates in international academic exchanges and has signed cooperation agreements with international organizations such as the International Labour Organization, as well as with top universities worldwide including Cornell University and Rutgers University in the United States, the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom, McGill University and the University of Toronto in Canada, and Tilburg University in the Netherlands. The school collaborates with leading companies in various industries such as Shell, Sinopec, China Shipbuilding Group, and Everbright Bank. Through talent cultivation, policy recommendations, and consulting services, the school has influenced the standardization process in fields such as labor employment, human resources, social security, labor relations, vocational development, innovation, and entrepreneurship in China.
