讲座题目：Genetics and Entrepreneurship: An Intergenerational Study

摘要：We develop and estimate an overlapping-generations framework in which individuals inherit genetic endowments from their parents and receive parental investments to develop their genetic potential. These endowments, measured by polygenic scores (PGS) for educational attainment and risk preference, shape both entrepreneurial preference and the likelihood of entrepreneurial success. Individuals make life-cycle decisions on education, occupation, and investment, and the framework disentangles three channels of intergenerational transmission: direct genetic heritability, parental skill investments (``genetic nurture''), and wealth transfers. Estimates show that educational-attainment PGS primarily boosts entrepreneurial performance, while risk-preference PGS drives entry through non-pecuniary preferences. Parental investments substantially amplify the returns to genetic potential. Counterfactuals further suggest that relaxing credit constraints may generate adverse selection, drawing in entrants with weaker genetic predictors of success and lowering the average quality of the entrepreneurial pool.

章维龙博士是剑桥大学经济学院副教授及Sewlyn学院院士。他的研究聚焦于遗传禀赋与人格特质如何影响个体在劳动力市场参与和家庭决策中的行为选择，特别关注将遗传因素纳入经济学模型以深化对劳动力市场与教育政策的理解。章博士拥有宾夕法尼亚大学经济学博士学位，此前在中国人民大学获得经济学硕士学位和数学学士学位。其研究成果发表于 Journal of Political Economy、Review of Financial Studies、Journal of Labor Economics、Quantitative Economics、European Economic Review 及 Journal of Human Resources 等国际学术期刊。他目前还担任International Economic Review期刊副主编。
