Dr. TU Yongqian, professor of law and management at the School of Labor and Human Resources, Renmin University of China.
Professor TU Yongqian holds a distinguished position at the School of Labor and Human Resources, Renmin University of China, where he contributes extensively to both research and teaching endeavors. As a prolific scholar with a multidisciplinary background, Prof. TU Yongqian boasts an impressive array of qualifications, including doctoral degrees from prestigious institutions such as China University of Political Science and Law, and further postdoctoral studies at Renmin University of China in law, as well as Applied Economics at Xi’an Jiaotong University. He has also served as a Senior Visiting Scholar at the University of Denver and Rutgers University in the United States from March 2014 to March 2015, October 2019 to September 2020, and October 2020 to September 2021.
A leading figure in several esteemed organizations, Prof. TU Yongqian is concurrently a researcher at the national institution—the National Academy of Development and Strategy at Renmin University of China, and has affiliations with the China Institute for Employment Research, the International Intellectual Property Research Center at Peking University, the Collaborative Innovation Center for Food Safety Governance at Renmin University, and Shanghai University of Political Science and Law where he is a specially appointed professor within the Plateau Discipline Program in Financial Law. Furthermore, he has held visiting or adjunct professorships at Liaoning University and other notable institutions.
Throughout his career, Prof. TU Yongqian has demonstrated expertise in areas ranging from labor law and employment relations to intellectual property rights, food safety governance, and the intersection of management science with legal studies. He is known for pioneering discussions on harmonious labor relations and applying innovative concepts to real-world cases, exemplified by his work with companies like Dongfeng Motor Corporation. His engagement with cutting-edge topics, such as blockchain technology and its implications for various fields, highlights his ongoing commitment to exploring new frontiers in academia.
Notably, Prof. TU Yongqian has been recognized for his significant contributions to legal education and research. As an accomplished editor, he has shared valuable insights on how to approach innovative research in legal papers, emphasizing the importance of choosing topics at the forefront of scholarly inquiry. In addition, he has led important initiatives, such as serving as the chief expert in the “Research on the Implementation of China’s Food Safety Law”, a project approved by the Ministry of Education’s Social Science Department in 2015.
His extensive publication record spans across numerous high-impact journals, with articles featured in key national and international publications. With an H-index of 15 and a citation count over 1,169, Prof. TU Yongqian has made substantial contributions to the advancement of legal scholarship and policymaking, particularly within the context of labor law, intellectual property, and public health regulation in the digital era. His engagements extend beyond academia to include memberships in professional bodies such as the China Association for Science and Technology Law, the China Insurance Law Research Association, and the China Law Journal Research Association, reflecting his active involvement in shaping the legal landscape both domestically and internationally.
Dr. TU Yongqian is an accomplished academician and legal professional with extensive experience in teaching, research, and advisory roles across multiple institutions and sectors.
Since October 2020, he has held the prestigious position of Editor-in-Chief for the esteemed international English journal Journal of Chinese Human Resources Management , which is listed in the SSCI Expanded Index and ESCI with an Impact Factor of 2.0. Concurrently, he also serves as the Executive Editor of another leading publication, Journal of Commercial Law Review .
His affiliations include being the Vice Chairman of the Education Accreditation Professional Committee of the China Education Development Strategy Association since June 2019 and a Visiting Researcher at the China Social Credit Research Institute at Central China Normal University since February 2018. Dr. TU Yongqian has also been a pivotal figure in several other renowned institutions such as the China Society for Science and Technology Financial Law Research, where he has been a Standing Council Member since 2015, and has concurrently held research positions at top-tier Chinese universities like Renmin University of China and Peking University.
He has actively participated in legislative activities, serving as a member of the expert group revising the Food Safety Law under the National Health Commission of China from 2013 to 2016. His editorial expertise is further highlighted by his role as the Copy Editor for the core law journal ‘Science & Technology and Law’ from 2013 to 2016, among other journal associations he has been involved with.
With a profound commitment to education, Dr. TU Yongqian has had an illustrious career in teaching international students at the China University of Political Science and Law’s International Education College, delivering courses on Chinese Civil Law and Chinese Labor Law in English from 2007 to 2017. He has also contributed to the academic community abroad, having served as the Deputy Editor-in-Chief and English Editor for the Australian law review “21st Century Law Review” between 2005 and 2009.
In the realm of policymaking and think-tank contributions, Dr. TU Yongqian has made significant strides. He has authored influential reports on topics such as managing foreign labor influx from Belt and Road Initiative countries, rural retirees’ pension security, reforms in personnel file management, promoting domestic services education, and addressing antitrust concerns in the digital economy. These reports have been acknowledged and adopted by high-level government bodies including the General Offices of the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, and the National People’s Congress.
Furthermore, he has demonstrated exceptional mentorship skills, guiding undergraduate research teams to secure numerous national and municipal level grants, as well as awards in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions. His dedication to education has been recognized through the awarding of the Outstanding Extracurricular Tutor Award and Excellent Advisor at Renmin University of China.
Beyond academia, Dr. TU Yongqian extends his expertise by acting as a consultant to more than ten domestic education technology companies and offering supply chain service consultation to various businesses. Through these multifaceted engagements, he continues to contribute significantly to the fields of law, human resources management, and public policy in China and internationally.
