"Current Situation of Labor Relations and Government Regulation Seminar" is Held in School of Labor and Human Resources, Renmin University of China

On September 11th, 2014, the "Current Situation of Labor Relations and Government Regulation Seminar" was held in Qiushi Building. Professor Chang Kai, Professor Li LiLin, Associate Professor Wu Qingjun in School of Labor and Human Resources, Renmin University of China, Professor Feng Xiliang in Capital University of Economics, Professor Li Min in South China University of Technology, Associate ProfessorLu Jun in Shandong University of Finance, Zhao Guojun---Director of Labor Relations Division in Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, Wang Haiyan---Director of Labor Relations Division in Beijing Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security, and some other leaders attended the meeting.
First, Professor Chang Kai briefly introduced the progress of each sub-task group had achieved since the important project had been carried out one and a half years: (1) surveyed labor relations conditions on province, city and county levels, and had done its preliminary analysis; (2) interviewed over 40 companies, and more than 20 institutions in the six provinces; (3) tracked some cases, such as large collective disputes happened recently in Hunan Wal-Mart, Guangdong, especially focusing on how the government handled collective disputes and summarizing lessons from them.
Second, Director Zhao of Labor Relations Division in Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security took the floor. He thanked the six provinces participating in the project for their hard work, and fully affirmed the achievements of the Research Group. Then he exchanged his ideas with the group members on roles of government in building harmonious labor relations, government duties in dealing with the strike, impacts of minimum wage system, etc. Then Dr. Tu Wei from School of Labor and Human Resources, RUC, reported the condition of data collection.
After that, Professor Li LiLin, Professor Yi Dinghong, Associate Professor Wu Qingjun, presented their research and interview results. Leaders of Labor Relations Division also introduced current conditions and characteristics of labor relations.
Finally, Professor Chang Kai organized a discussion, and thanked everyone present.
