A Short-term Course from Prof. Heckman
At the invitation of the College of Labor and Human Resources of Renmin University of China and College of Economics and Business Administration of Beijing Normal University, Professor James J. Heckman, who is the Nobel economic prize winner in 2000, will hold a short –term course in People's University of China on June 11th, 2010, with the name of Debate between “Structural “and “Reduced Form “in Empirical Economics。 The specific time and place of the course is: 11th June 2010 at 8:30 AM-12:30 AM, in the class 0102 of mingde law building in Renmin university of China. Heckman is Henry Schultz Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago. His research covers extensive wide range, such as education, job-training programs, minimum-wage legislation, anti-discrimination law, and civil rights, early children decades’ intervention, as well as the effect that tax acts on education and training select and a general equilibrium model's structure and estimate and so on. Because of the outstanding contributions in many fields, professor Heckman has won many awards up to now. He Received the Nobel Prize in economics for his development of theory and methods for analyzing selective samples. In addition, he also won the outstanding contributions on children social policy research in 2009.He obtained the Italian President Bonus awards in 2008.Professor Heckman won SunYeFang Prize in economics, Dennis Edgar applied econometrics award, Theodore Schultz award in 2007.in 2006, he won Ulysses award of Dublin University. He received Jacob Mincer Award for Lifetime Achievement in awarded by the association of Labor Economics in 2005 and so on.
