Launched and organized by the International Labor Organization (ILO), the International Seminar on Chinese Youth Employment will be held in April 2nd in the conference center of Yifu Building, whose topic is Employment Policy of Chinese Youth: Theory and Practice.
In the past 30 years, great improvement of economy and society occurred, and encouraging employment was priority to government. However, the change of both globalization and population damaged the employment conditions and prospects to youth. As the result, Chinese youth are facing challenges and tasks for a long time. The Chinese government stressed in the "twelfth five-year" plan to implement a much active employment policy, taking the youth employment, especially the college graduates’ employment problem as first place. In recent years, a series of relevant laws, regulations and policy documents were successively promulgated and issued, in order to cope with the financial crisis impact on youth employment, and fruitful progress has been made.
After The International Labor Organization (ILO) signed a memorandum of understanding with Chinese government in 2001, Chinese employment situation and employment demand get a better understanding through activities as technical cooperation, and ILO decided to choose China as a target country for new youth jobs from 2014 to 2015. Through this seminar, ILO aims to further understanding about the developing and implementing demand of youth employment project in China, and sharing the experience and good practice of international youth employment policy. We also hope to increase understanding of participants for the youth employment needs and challenges as well as the related knowledge of policy choice, and enhance the ability of participants to design and implement the policy and plan of youth employment, as well as advocate the investment in youth of government and society actively.
Scholars and students from ILO, participants from Chinese government and universities will attend the seminar.
