Lecture: Social Network and Organizational Communication

   


   The lecturers are Noshir Contractor (the master of social network) and Peter Monge (the master of organizational communication).
    Time: 9:30am -11:50am September 10, 2010(Friday)

    • 10:50 - 11:50 Professor Monge’ Talk: “The Future of Evolutionary and Ecological Studies in Organizational Communication”
   
    Introduction of Professors:
    Noshir Contractor, professor of Organization &Behavior of Kellogg Business college, engineering college, communication and information college at Northwestern University, director of Research Centre of social network at Northwestern University, part-time professor at Columbia University, invited researcher of Research Centre of behavior science at Stanford University, and once he had taught 20 years at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
    His research areas include organizational innovation, social network, knowledge sharing, communication, etc. He has published over 250 papers, and has published almost 30 papers in International Journals of Academy of Management review, Organizational Science, Management Communication Quarterly, Journal of the Community Development Society, etc., and he has received "Best Research Paper Awards" from International Communication Association for four times (2000,1998,1997,1993). He wrote 3 professional works, participated in writing 22 professional works and 《the transmission network theory》 (Oxford University publishing house, 2003) had been translated into Chinese (Renmin University of China publishing house, 2008)
    For over ten years, he has hosted research projects sponsored by national natural science fund, the national institutes of health, the American national aviation administration, Rockefeller foundation, MacArthur foundation and dozens of large-scale organization.
    In 2006, he won Zelst Van Outstanding Scholar award by Northwestern University; In 2000 and 2003, he was awarded distinguished professor of organizations scientific fields by international communication association; In 2000, he was awarded the best distance teaching by Purdue University.
    Now he is the editor of some journals such as Human Communication Research, Journal of Applied Communication Research, Journal of Communication, Management Communication Quarterly, Organization Science, and the World Wide Web Electronic Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication.
    Once he provided many enterprises such as P&G, Boeing, McKinsey, fiat auto, national cancer institute, State power, Charles Schwab, Merrill Lynch, Michigan Consolidated, Paramount Pictures, the Utah Transit Authority and Vodafone with management consulting services
   
    Peter r. Monge
    Peter r. Monge, professor of Anneibo college at the University of Pennsylvania and Marshall Business College at the University of Southern California. He published large numbers of papers in organizational Communication network, cooperation information system, globalization and propagation, cooperative coevolution theory and research methods and he also published professional works named the transmission network theory, dissemination and organization, multivariate technology of human communication studies. He was the editor-in-chief of Communication Research and chairman of International Communication Association, and he was awarded outstanding scholar by Club of organizational communication and information system of management Association and outstanding research by Club of organizational communication of the American National Communication Association in 2003.
